The JCC offers American Red Cross courses for those
interested in sharpening their leadership skills and showing the world what they can do and build an impressive
resume for the future. The American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety programs are nationally recognized,
which means once certification is received, the lifeguard will be eligible to work anywhere in the U.S.
The JCC also offers PADI Open Water SCUBA Diving and Certified Pool Operator courses for those interested.
Show the World What You're Made of... Become a Lifeguard

If you're 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or challenging career that's in demand, American Red Cross
Lifeguard Training is the best place to start. Lifeguarding lets you work as part of a team to help people safely enjoy
the water. You could even save a life!
Learning is fun and easy! Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn:
- Rescue skills for use in the water and on land
- First aid and professional rescuer CPR/AED training to help you prepare for any emergency
- Professional lifeguard responsibilities
- Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries

Be a Hero By Helping Others Save Lives... Become a Lifeguard Instructor

If you're at least 17 years old and can demonstrate competency in all lifeguarding skills, you can
become an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. The course trains instructor candidates to teach all
Lifeguarding courses (including First Aid), CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Management,
Administering Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens Training, and Basic Water Rescue.

Make a Meaningful Difference in the World... Become a Water Safety Instructor

If you're at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross Water Safety
Instructor. Learn to teach children and adults to swim, and give water safety presentations to kids and their
parents. It's a fun and meaningful job.
Become certified to teach:
- Parent and Child Aquatics
- Learn-to-Swim (Levels 1-6)
- Basic Water Rescue
- Various water safety presentations

Live the Adventure... Become a SCUBA Diver

If you've always wanted to learn how to SCUBA dive, discover new adventures, or simply see the wonderous
world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open
Water Diver course is the world's most popular SCUBA certification course, and has introduced millions of people to the
adventurous diving lifestyle. Learning to SCUBA dive requires both knowledge development (facts, principles,
concepts) and motor procedures (skills, techniques, methods). This course will give students the skills and
certification card they will need to dive in any ocean in the world.
Included in the PADI Open Water Diver course, are:
- Four Open Water Dives
- Academic Lessons
- Confined Water Training
Students will learn how to use basic SCUBA gear, a diving computer, and accessories. (The equipment
worn varies somewhat, depending upon whether you're diving in tropical, temperate or cold water.)

Advance Your Career... Become a Certified Pool Operator
If you're looking to gain advancement in your career at a pool or waterpark, then you should check out
the JCC's Certified Pool Operators Course. Graduates will gain knowledge and familiarity with all pertinent
legislation, regulations, and codes-of-practice, as well as standards of design, operation and guidelines.
Upon completion, you will have a good understanding of a pool's mechanical system and all of its components.
The course will include:
- how to maintain good water quality
- proper disinfection
- maintaining proper water balance
