
The JCC is pleased to announce the start of another great year of youth basketball. The Randy Kohn Memorial Basketball League is open to children in grades Kindergarten through 6th, which runs Nov. 16 through Feb. 22.
"This league stresses the fundamental improvement of each and every participant," said Ben Brant, JCC Youth Recreation Director. "We will conduct evaluations of the players on Nov. 16 and then put them on teams. During the season the first half of their time slot will be practice time with their teammates and coaches. The second half of their time slot will be a game against a league opponent."
JCC Basketball Specialist Pat Noles, will offer open gym time for children in grades 3 through 6 on Wednesday evenings to further work on their skills. Ben Brant and Justin Morrow will work with players in grades Kindergarten through 2 to monitor and work on improving their basketball skills. "Members and non-members are welcome to join the league," said Brant.
Fees are $82 for JCC members in grades K-2, and $132 for non-members pay $132. The fee for JCC members in grades 3-6 is $102, and is $150 for non-members. Registration deadline for the league is Nov. 14.
Brant noted that non-members also will receive a two-week trial pass to the JCC upon signing up for the league.
Travel teams for children in grades 3 through 6 also will be offered, and will play play local teams in an 8 to 12 game season in addition to Sunday games. Those interested in the travel teams should contact Brant prior to the evaluation day on Nov. 16.
