Camp Hoover
For campers entering grades 4 through 8

Experience much of what an overnight camp has to offer
in a day camp setting.

New for Summer 2006:

Camp Benefits & Features:

  • 28-acre rustic woodland bordering the Hoover Reservoir provides a beautiful campground. Facilities include woods, boat dock, swimming pool, bathhouse, pavilion, basketball court, bike trails, athletic fields, high ropes course, archery range and art area.

  • Campers flourish in our adventure-based programming with an emphasis on Jewish values.

  • Activities rotate on a 2-week cycle

  • All campers participate in lessons or weekly water activities, like lifesaving skills & water relays.

  • Hoover campers participate in TAG initiatives created by the Mandel Center for Jewish Education. The TAG program was created to add Jewish richness, beauty, quality and special meaning to our camps through Jewish experience and education.

  • Campers select from activities such as high ropes, daily free swim, sailing, canoeing, trail biking, basketball, soccer, arts & crafts, archery, Judaics, drama, street hockey,
    sand volleyball, nature, outdoor science, and Israeli dodgeball.

  • Incoming 4th graders experience an in-depth introduction to Hoover.
    4th graders participate in all Hoover activities with their group and in their favorite chugim daily. They also participate in 2 unit late nights and 2 all-camp overnights.

  • 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders participate in 4 chugim per day, plus:
    1 unit overnight, 2 all-camp overnights, and a 2-day/1-night overnight Adventure Trip to Camp Wise (watch
    for more details on this trip)!

  • 7th and 8th graders also participate in our White Water Rafting Trip. Ride the exciting waves in West Virginia for 2 nights and 3 days.

  • Each camper eligible for the Camp Wise trip and/or White Water
    Rafting trip participates once. Trips are offered multiple times during the summer
    to accommodate campers participating in our flexible camp options.

Camp Hoover Trips - Trips offered at no extra charge!

  • White Water Rafting Trips (7th & 8th graders)
    Offered during weeks of July 3, July 17 & August 7

  • Camp Wise Trips (5th — 8th graders)
    Offered during the weeks of July 10 & July 24
